The Shimanovsky District Court considered the criminal case against the 38-year-old former police officer who staged a fatal accident on the highway in the Shimanovsky district in January this year. The man was found guilty of violating the rules of traffic rules, a perfect person who is intoxicated, entailed by negligence the death of a person. The victim of the accident was the head of the forensic group.

The tragedy occurred on the night of January 25 on the Amur highway Chita – Khabarovsk near the village of Bazyny. A drunk police officer who was driving an official UAZ crashed into a truck parked on the side of the road.

At the time of the accident, the police car was: the head of the forensic group, her 19-year-old son and another police officer. As a result of the accident, the expert died at the scene, other passengers were injured, the young man was taken to the hospital, according to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

According to the prosecutor's office of the Amur Region, at the hearing, the man pleaded guilty and repented of his deed. The court recognized the evidence of his guilt collected by investigators and sentenced five and a half years in a penal colony of general regime. This is almost a minimum punishment under paragraph “a” of Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, according to which the ex-police officer was tried. He was also deprived of the right to drive vehicles for two and a half years.

However, this sentence has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed.
