Computer games themselves could not cause shooting in Kazan, so limiting their sale is an excess measure. So the idea of the ban on the video game was appreciated by the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Andrei Svintsov on the air of the Radio Says Moscow radio station.

“There is no specific harm from computer games. If there are some people with mental deviations, then there should be certain restrictions for them, but doctors should find these deviations, ”he said.

Svintsov added that it is impossible to completely limit the distribution of computer games in the first place technically. He emphasized that many people play video games, but do not become criminals.

“We saw a video of the interrogation of this young man, where he is clearly insane. What led to such a state? It's hard for me to say, I'm not a doctor. In any case, you need to understand. I doubt that some hobbies of computer games led to this. Most likely, this is some kind of dissatisfaction with life, and this, rather, is caused by not very comfortable relations in the family, perhaps not very adequate relations at school, ”said Svintsov.

On Tuesday, May 11, in Kazan, 19-year-old Ilnaz Galyaviev fired at the city gymnasium No. 175, 23 people were hospitalized as a result of an attack on the school. Nine people died.
