Strategy Corridors: examples, tips, instructions

In the “Corridors” strategy, players are attracted by the possibility of double winnings from bets on different outcomes. Let's consider this strategy on detailed examples, talk about its types, as well as about the advantages and disadvantages.

For the first time, the “Corridors” strategy was used in betting on basketball, but now it is also used in betting on football, hockey, volleyball, tennis or any other sport where you can bet on a handicap. The main advantage of the strategy is the absence of the need for a large initial bank and ease of use.

The basic principle of this strategy, as the name implies, is the search for the so-called corridors in the coefficients of bookmakers. Many bookmakers are now putting out wide lines, and the odds in different periods of time are very different from each other. The main task of the player using this strategy is to find an event with a similar “corridor” and choose the desired “corridor” after analyzing the event. To do this, you need to have accounts in different bookmakers: a bet on one outcome is made in one office, and a bet on another corridor outcome – in another.

The strategy involves betting on handicaps and totals, and to make it easier to understand, it is easiest to consider this strategy with an example.

Corridor for totals

To play with this strategy on totals, it is best to be able to compare quotes of various bookmakers online. For example, in a match between teams A and B after the first half the score is 50:42. One of the offices gives the total for the outcome of this game in the region of 180, and the second – in the region of 188. The odds will be almost the same. This is what is called a corridor.

Thus, by making two different bets (in one bookmaker – on total over 180, and in the other – on total under 188), the player gets a chance that the final total of the match will remain in the corridor between 180 and 188 points, which means both bets will pass.

If one of the bets does not pass, then the second one will be able to return most of the pot, and the loss will not be so big. It is possible that such a corridor can be caught in the same bookmaker's office, simply by tracking the odds online.

Corridor for a head start

Many bookmakers allow you to buy more points for the handicap of a particular team, which also expands the maneuver for players to find successful corridors. As an example, we again use the basketball game of team A against team B. On the victory of the team A with a handicap (-1.5) give a coefficient of 1.7; and for the victory of team B with a handicap (+5.5), the coefficient is 1.71.Thus, the corridor is only 4 points, which is very small for basketball, but the probability of a successful outcome is still quite high. Moreover, if bookmakers offer to buy additional points to the handicap, then for a coefficient of 1.5 you can get a “corridor” of 8 points in size, and the net winnings, if successful, will be 50% of the bet.

Corridor in football betting

This strategy, as mentioned at the beginning, can be used for football. For example, let's take the already familiar teams A and B and consider the tournament situation in the table.

Team A is the favourite, and the odds for its victory in different offices vary from 1.4 to 1.5. Team B, in turn, is a strong middle peasant, who plays quite stably on the road, but still concedes to the favorites. The handicap odds (+1.5) for Team B will vary around 1.6 – 1.7. Thus, we get a “corridor” of one goal in size: in the case of a minimal victory for the home team, we will make a profit from each bet, and in the case of any other outcome, these two bets will insure each other, and the entire bank will not be lost.

Pros and cons of the Corridors strategy

The main advantage of this strategy is the relatively low risk of losing the entire bank. Since one of the bets will be successful in any case, we exclude the possibility of losing the entire bank if the bet is unsuccessful: insurance will return us from 40 to 60% of the bank anyway. In addition, the advantages of this strategy include the absence of the need for a large initial bank – you can play according to the Corridors strategy with a small bank.

The disadvantages of the strategy include a relatively small increase in the bank – you will never be able to increase your bank in a short time by a very large amount, because the strategy provides for playing at relatively small odds. In addition, to play using this strategy, you need to track the lines of different bookmakers in different time periods to find the best corridor – this requires both effort and time, which means that it can also be attributed to minuses.

In order to clearly understand the dimensions of the “corridor” that are more likely to play, it is important to carefully analyze the selected events. However, it is unlikely that the need for analysis should be considered a minus of the strategy.

findings

The “corridor” strategy is suitable for beginners who do not have a large bank, but want to learn how to analyze upcoming games and be in the black (albeit small) in the long run. Experienced players can try to reduce the size of the “corridor”, trying to catch higher odds and increase their winnings accordingly.
