Russian figure skater Victoria Sinitsina thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for supporting figure skating.

“I want to thank you for supporting our sport, skaters. The Beijing Olympics were very difficult due to many restrictions. But the most important thing is that we returned home with medals, it was very important for us. Everything possible was done for us throughout the preparation and competition, we are very grateful to you, thank you very much!” – quotes the words of Sinitsina TASS.

At the Beijing Olympics, the Russian team won the gold medal in the figure skating team tournament. In the men's singles skating, the team was represented by Mark Kondratyuk, in the women's singles by Kamila Valieva, in the sports couples competitions by Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, in dance duets by Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov.

At the Beijing Olympics in women's single skating, Russian Anna Shcherbakova won, second place was taken by her compatriot Alexandra Trusova.

In pair skating at the tournament, Evgenia Tarasova / Vladimir Morozov won silver, and Anastasia Mishina / Alexander Gallyamov won bronze. In ice dancing, silver was won by a pair from Russia, Sinitsina / Katsalapov.
