Flood 2022: In May, the Volzhskaya hydroelectric power station will begin to reduce water consumption
The flood is one of the most important and intense periods in the work of the hydroelectric power station. On Friday, April 29, Rosvodresursi determined the operating mode of the Volgograd hydroelectric complex for May 2022. According to Volzhskaya Pravda in the company RusHydro, in the mode of maximum set discharges (25,000 ± 500 cubic meters/s), the Volga hydroelectric power station will work tentatively until May 3.
Further, the hydroelectric station will begin a decrease in water costs with a gradual access to the “fish regiment” (18000 cubic meters) necessary for fish spawning:
- 04/04/2022 – 23000 ± 500 cubic meters,
- 05.05.2022 – 21000 ± 500 cubic meters/s,
- 06/06/2022 – 19000 ± 500 cubic meters,
According to the Rosvodresursi, the water consumption of 17000 ± 500 cubic meters/s Volzhskaya hydroelectric power station should go from May 7. The duration of the “fishing shelf” will depend on the actually emerging hydrological situation in May. While it is planned to keep it at least until May 20.
“In terms of duration and volumes, discharge through the Volgograd hydroelectric station is expected to correspond to the average long -term parameters. No negative impacts from the discharge of water at the Volga hydroelectric power station will happen, but the agricultural and fisheries regiment will be normally formed, ”comments Maxim Galkin, chief engineer of the Volga hydroelectric power station.
Recall that a special butter in the lower Volga is necessary for the bay of floodplain meadows, filling artificial and natural reservoirs for watering in the summer, maintaining increased water levels during fish spawning.
