The Spanish Football Championship 2019-2020 will last for 10 months with a short break of 2-3 weeks in December-January. The start of the 89th edition of La Liga is scheduled for August 18, 2019, and the championship will end on May 24, 2020.

As in previous draws Examples, each of the 20 participating teams will play 38 matches (19 at home, 19 away). The first 4 places give the right to play in the group stage of the Champions League, for which the real struggle will flare up. 5th and 6th place is the Europa League qualification. At the end of the season, the 3 worst teams of the championship will leave La Liga and go to the Segunda.

From the 2019-2020 season, the matches of the Spanish Football Championship will not be played on Mondays.

This decision was made by the Spanish Football Federation for the reason that to give fans the opportunity to watch the championship matches at the weekend!

As with the previous Liga, the 2019/20 season will use the Video Replay (VAR) system.
