Landing. For good growth, tulips need a lot of sun. Therefore, they choose an open area protected from the wind. Late varieties tolerate slight shading. The soil should be loamy or sandy, well drained, not acidic. Before planting, humus (about 10 kg per m2) is applied to the soil. Before planting, it is strictly forbidden to add manure in the soil, as it leads to rotting of the roots. The planting period of tulips September-the beginning of October (tulips are rooted at a temperature of + 5-7 ° C). The depth of planting depends on the size of the bulb. So, small bulbs are planted to a depth of 7-10 cm, large-15 cm. The distance between the bulbs, respectively,-10 cm and 15-20 cm. Tulips are planted in groups, ridges. When landing in groups, they dig a hole with a flat bottom, a depth of 12-15 cm. Then poured into the bottom in an even layer of sod-compass ground, on top is covered with a thin layer of sand (1-2 cm). Further on the sand, the bulbs are laid with sharp ends up and filled with pre -removed soil. Tulips are suitable for winter distillation. For these purposes, they choose large and healthy bulbs. When landing in containers, tulips need to provide good drainage. Containers must have drainage holes, a drainage layer is placed on the bottom. The earth mixture is prepared from sod, compost land, sand or peat.
Care. Tulips are frost -resistant plants. Do not tolerate stagnation of water. With a lack of moisture, tulips need to be watered. After flowering, the ovaries are removed, and the stems and leaves are left until completely dry. In July-August, the bulbs are dug, sorted and dried in the shade. Then they are stored first at a temperature of 22 ° C (for 2-3 weeks), then the temperature is gradually reduced to 12 ° C. At such a low temperature, the bulbs of tulips are contained before planting in the ground. In the winter, tulips are mulched with peat or compost. In one place they grow up to 5 years.
